Hardwareluxx Hits 100+ GB/s RAID 5 with SupremeRAID™

Hardwareluxx Media GmbH now runs its high-traffic media platform on a server environment that delivers more than 100 GB/s of RAID 5 read performance, with consistently low latency and higher VM density. SupremeRAID™ by Graid Technology is at the center of that storage architecture.

The Challenge

Hardwareluxx is a leading technology media platform in Germany and the publisher of “Technology Insider” in the Netherlands. As its audience grew and AI-driven workloads became more common, the company’s nearly five-year-old ESX virtualization platform and SATA-based storage reached their limits. Storage throughput and latency bottlenecks were affecting user experience, and growing VM density put more pressure on compute, memory, and storage. Hardwareluxx needed an architecture that could keep scaling without repeated forklift upgrades.

The Solution

Hardwareluxx rebuilt its environment on Proxmox, running on Gigabyte servers with Intel® Xeon® 6 processors and Kingston DC3000ME PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSDs. SupremeRAID™ uses GPU acceleration to remove traditional RAID bottlenecks, so the platform can take full advantage of Gen5 NVMe bandwidth while keeping CPU cores free for application workloads. That combination delivers high performance even in RAID 5 and RAID 6 configurations.

The Results
  • More than 100 GB/s RAID 5 read performance
  • Fast random write speeds for demanding database workloads and high-traffic web services
  • Consistently low latency in RAID 5 and RAID 6 configurations
  • Higher VM density per host and improved responsiveness during peak demand
  • An AI-ready foundation with headroom for larger datasets and continued growth

The full story covers the architecture, deployment, and results in more detail.
